Spend Rainy Days Watching Reboots of Old Shows and Movies With Your Mom
Rainy days can be difficult. Your mom doesn’t want to go outside. You are struggling to find something to do with her. Reboots of older TV shows and movies are gaining ground. Cozy up on a dreary afternoon and watch some of these movies and shows together.
A Star is Born
Viewers get to see a new side of Lady Gaga in the third remake of A Star is Born. The movie also features Bradly Cooper in his first time as director and the male lead. Before seeing this version, you can get prior versions and watch them with your mom.
The movie tells the story of an alcoholic country star. He falls in love with a young singer, but his alcoholism affects their relationship. The original came out in 1937 and starred Janet Gaynor and Frederic March. This version focused on acting rather than singing.
Judy Garland and James Mason remade the film as a musical in 1954. It was remade again in 1976 with Kris Kristofferson and Barbara Streisand.
One Day at a Time
The original One Day at a Time starred Bonnie Franklin as a single mom to daughters MacKenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli. In addition to the struggles of a single mom, there were the challenges the girls faced. The show ran from 1975 to 1984.
Netflix brought it back and it’s been earning high praise. The single mom is Cuban-American and has a son and a daughter. She’s a vet struggling to PTSD. Staying true to the original, the show focuses on issues today like racism and mental illness.
S.W.A.T.
In 1975, Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg produced a series about A Californian S.W.A.T. team. The show starred Steve Forrest and Robert Ulrich. In 2003, a new generation got to meet Hondo and Jim when it came out as a movie starring Colin Farrell and Samuel L. Jackson.
S.W.A.T. is back. The show was rebooted in 2017. Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds) and Alex Russell star as Hondo and Jim. They’re joined by Stephanie Sigman as Captain Cortez.
Your mom may need a change of pace. While it’s common for family members to care for aging parents, some seniors prefer having professional caregivers helping out. The time you spend with your mom should be spent having fun not completing chores.
Look into the many services caregivers provide. With an elder care professional helping with cleaning, meals, transportation, and laundry, you can focus on fun events like movie days. Call an agency to learn more.
